According to the article above, they defended it by saying they had a Gujarati interpreter present, so it doesn’t matter that the women they experimented on didn’t speak enough English to know what was being said. The women were Punjabi. My family speaks Gujarati, it is not similar enough to Punjabi for that to be adequate.
